The village high street is just a short stroll away, with independent shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs and a very well-stocked Co-op. There is even a lovely ladies' clothing boutique, dentist and a pretty village park, with the historic Ye Olde Admiral Rodney, pizza and Indian restaurants close by.
For coffee, Henry's Café and The Olde School Café are popular local spots, the latter particularly charming with its pretty courtyard. When it comes to dining and drinks, there is plenty of choice, including the Bridge Hotel, with its beautiful riverside garden — a particularly lovely place to spend a summer afternoon — as well as the Legh Arms, Coast and Bacchus Restaurant & Champagne Bar. Both the Bridge Hotel and Legh Arms also offer accommodation, which is ideal when friends or family come to stay.
The village has a wonderfully active community, with clubs and groups ranging from history and flowers to the WI and book clubs, alongside activities and exercise classes at the village hall. There are also tennis, squash, cricket and golf clubs locally, with further golf available at Mottram Hall and Tythirington.
For families, there is a children's park and football pitch, an excellent primary school and transport links to secondary schools in neighbouring towns.
Countryside from the doorstep
For those who love walking and the outdoors, this is where Chapel Cottage really comes into its own.
The property sits directly on the 25-mile Bollin Way, with countryside walks beginning practically outside the front door. Follow the path away from the village and you quickly reach open countryside, a picturesque bridge over the river and views across fields where sheep can often be seen grazing.
There is a beautiful circular walk of around five miles taking you towards Mottram St Andrew, with the opportunity to stop for a Sunday drink at Mottram Hall before heading home.
Walk in the other direction and you can make your way towards Macclesfield, while nearby Bollington offers further wonderful walking, including the climb to White Nancy and walks along the canal. In every direction, the surrounding countryside provides opportunities to explore, exercise and enjoy the landscape.
Excellent connections
Despite its village setting, Prestbury is exceptionally well connected. The railway station is approximately a five-minute walk from the property, providing services towards Manchester, Stockport, Macclesfield and Stoke-on-Trent, with connections onwards to other major UK cities including London.
Wilmslow, Alderley Edge and Macclesfield are all within easy reach, while Manchester Airport is also conveniently accessible.
